Museum cushion cover tells
a story of hard times
Magi said:
"Modryb Bet lived in a fairly
large house, called Bryn Taf,
and during the depression
she saw the poverty around her
and wanted to do something
to help the village".
"I can remember her telling me
that in those days you couldn’t
really interfere in men’s matters
and so she was trying to
think of a way in which she
could help these families".
"This is where she got the idea
to organise work on
a co-operative basis for
the women of the village".
"She turned a bedroom into a
workshop, paid for someone to
teach the women how to
quilt in the traditional Welsh style,
and paid a local man to make
the quilting frames".
"Together they produced these
lovely quilted articles to sell".

amazing lady, Aunty Betty here
I am fairly confident that none
of my cushion covers
will ever end up in a Museum.
However just like Aunt Betty
my spare bedroom has
become my craft workshop
and in the corner of the
room is a Grandmother chair
adorned with some of my
favourite cushions.
The Adorabellas are part of
my "show pony" collection
which simply means they
are on show to look good.
Definitely no laying around on
these little bella beauties !

The cushions below match our
Genoa Lounge Chairs that
I picked up at an Auction
many years ago for
only $50 for the pair !
Recovered with some beautiful
fabric from the UK
and the left over material
made up into matching cushions,
just because I love the
fabric so much.
Perfumed cushions for the closet
wrapped up with some very
delicate lace from
Miss Rose Sister Violet.
I realise that most my examples of
cushions around our home
have been mainly of the
decorative variety.
OK here is my only
practical cushion example below;
