The Health Benefits Of Singing

'The only thing better than singing
is more singing," said Ella Fitzgerald.
Perhaps such a statement is to be
expected from a world-famous artist
with an era-defining voice,
but she wasn't the only one to
wax lyrical on the benefits of
a good vocal performance.

Even John Harvey Kellogg

Mr Cornflakes himself
had this to add in 1931:
"Singing promotes health, breathing,
circulation and digestion."
Singing might be fun, might be joyful
and uplifting, might inspire
poetry and paeans.

But could it actually be good for you?
Oh yes !
It seems that Mr Kellogg was on to something.

My Grandmother loved to whistle
I can't remember the tunes but we would
often hear her before we saw her.

Why don't people whistle a tune anymore ?

My Mother loved to sing and she had a
reasonably good singing voice which is
helpful if your going to sing in public
which my mother did frequently around
our home and at Church.

She loved to hear Church Choirs singing
especially the old traditional hymns.

One of her favourite Choirs was the

I remember every year when the
televised Christmas Carols were on
she would look forward to hearing Jerusalem
being sung and we all had to sit quitely so
she could enjoy every moment of the song.

My favourite version of Jerusalem
is an updated version by the Hoppers.

singing voice but not sure what to do
without damaging your vocal chords ?
