My Great Grandmother, Grandmother and Mother were born in a era when hats and gloves were part of their everyday attire, just like jeans and T shirts are today.
My Grandmother clearly loved hats and wore them as a young women and all through her life. She would always wear a hat and gloves if she was making a trip into town or going to church, it was a special occasion and something that you dressed up for.

I love hats, always have - always will !
My Grandmothers hat boxes were a plain dull brown colour so I embelished them with some Victorian style scrapbooking pictures along with a few modern pieces to try and blend the two eras together.
I confess that I do have a small hat collection.
Ok, I have six hats in my collection, that's not very many
for a hat collection - right ?
I guess it depends how long you have been around and how many times you have seen the fashion trends come and go and come around again and again.
I am secrectly hoping that hats will make a big comeback soon so I can bring them out of the hat boxes once again.
Do you have any hats hiding in your closet just waiting to see the
light of day again ?
My favourite hat hasn't been worn for a while, it's is the one I call the "wedding hat" because I have worn it to a number
of weddings over the years.
I haven't had the opportunity to wear this hat
recently which is disappointing.
I really love this hat because of the pretty pink bow - very girly, very me !
My girlfriends eldest daughter was married in Victoria a few years ago, it was a very traditional wedding and the setting was perfect to wear "the" hat but my husband and I had limited space in our suitcase for the weekend visit so unfortunately it was left behind.
The Bride looked stunning, the Groom was dashing, and as a wonderful surprise they gave us the honeymoon suite where all the guests were staying for the night and they went to a hotel in Melbourne.
I just cried - it was one of the most generous, loving and kind acts I have ever received in my life and one that I will never ever forget !

Valentine's Day History |
In the United States, Miss Esther Howland is given credit for sending the first valentine cards. Commercial valentines were introduced in the 1800's and now the date is very commercialised.
There are varying opinions as to the origin of Valentine's Day. Some experts state that it originated from St. Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to give up Christianity. He died on February 14, 269 A.D., Legend also says that St. Valentine left a farewell note for the jailer's daughter, who had become his friend, and signed it "From Your Valentine".
"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.
John 15 verse 13
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.
1 John 3:16
May God's love shine down on you today.
